Hiring a Decorator or Doing It Yourself

Posted by Brody on March 6, 2010

Decorating a house is a lot of work. Whether you are doing one room or the whole house, it requires a lot of time and patience. And as anyone who has ever done it them self knows, things are going to go wrong and it might not end up just the way you were imagining it. So this brings up the question of whether or not it you should hire a professional designer or attempt to do it yourself. You may be thinking that the answer is pretty simple, especially if you have never before attempted to decorate yourself; however, there are pros and cons to each.
I can probably guess what you are thinking right now, professional designers are expensive and are only used by those who have a lot of extra money to spend. Well, it is true that hiring a designer is not cheap and it is definitely something that you would have to save up for. On the flip side, you would end up with a beautifully decorated room, or house, that is completely finished and looking just like imagined or saw online .
On the other hand if you do it yourself you will receive the satisfaction of a job well done, even if it takes a while to get it finished. Although you are involved in the design process when you hire a professional it is not quite the same as deciding on the window treatments yourself or spending hours in the paint aisle looking for just the right shade of Eddie Bauer paint . By decorating yourself you get to add all those special touches that make your home unique. From the windows to the floors and everything in between, the look will be yours.
It is a hard decision, deciding how to decorate your house. For a small fortune a designer can give you that perfect look you find in the pages of Better Homes and Gardens but they will never completely capture you. That is something you have to create all by yourself.

Creating Modern Design

Posted by Brody on February 20, 2010

Keeping up with the latest trends for home decor is no easy task; some would even say it is impossible. Much like clothes, what is cool and trendy one year will out-of-date the next. With so many styles and designs to choose from it is hard to decide on just the right one; then trying to add that personal touch is enough to give anyone but the best designers a headache. While we all know, or should know by now, that shag carpeting is definitely out, we often feel at a loss when it comes to creating sophisticated modern decor.
The key to designing any room with a modern flare is simplicity. Most modern furniture and accessories that you find will consist of mainly straight lines and geometric shapes. For instance, a modern couch will most likely be a straight bench and backrest, perhaps at an obtuse angle, with simple straight legs. There is not much extra fluff or stuffing added for comfort. Another key design element for modern style is color. Most modern design is based on neutrals, such as black, tan and white; however, bold solids also work as well if they are kept to a minimum. Metallic silvers and golds also compliment the modern style well.
One aspect of modern design that can be particularly challenging is the window blinds. You do not want anything that is going to be so loud that it detracts from the rest of the room. Shades are good choice for a modern room because they are simple, they do not draw too much attention, and they are available in a variety of different colors. You can check out some examples at http://www.nextdayblinds.org/ or visit the Next Day Blinds design center for more tips, ideas, and suggestions.
With so many resources available in stores or online, you are only a few steps away from a modern design that is all yours.

The House of Dreams

Posted by Brody on December 28, 2009

There are some dream experts who say that whenever you are dreaming about a house, that the house is a representation of you.  This is usually the case when there is something very significant about a particular house in a dream, not where it’s an incidental setting.  Some of my favorite dreams are about a house.  It’s not a house I’ve ever lived in, and I’m pretty sure it’s a house I’ve never even really seen.  But it’s always the same house.  Sometimes the dream shows me that there is another section of the house I’ve never even set foot in, and this makes me inexplicably happy all day long.  When I check this against the interpretations of dreams, I see that I’m not insane at all, at least not as far as the dream is concerned.

When a house opens up like this in dreams, revealing more rooms than before, it means that there’s a period of growth going on, that you’ve passed through some major life incidents, and are ready for the next part of the journey.  This excites me, and it’s sometimes hard to explain to my friends why I’m suddenly feeling this way, because it’s based on a very internal event that has no visible effects in the world.  I do get the same excitement when I make changes to my house in waking life.  When I got new blinds, I had a feeling that something wonderful had just happened, and I really couldn’t wait to see what was going to happen next.

In this case, my friends thought my excitement was very well-founded.  They saw the difference and appreciated it as much as I did.  It was certainly the same house, and it was the same rooms, but suddenly the entire feeling was different.  With Next Day Blinds, criticisms are very minimal, and that’s very good news for dreamers like me, who see the possibilities in the spaces I live in, even the ones that only get to visit late at night, when there’s no one around except for me, and the houses I live in.

Many people wanting to redecorate their living spaces today are faced with issues such as money, and time.  But it really does not take much to spruce up and to refresh your house or your apartment.  And this is a great option, for those who were intended to find a new place, and now see themselves hanging on to their current one for a few more years.  At Next Day Blinds, there are many options for adding new window treatments in a variety of colors, which will enhance the overall look and feel of your home.

Although finding just where to start when redecorating may seem a daunting task, this is really a very rewarding project to undertake.  The first step, de-clutter.  In a spring cleaning kind of way.  Living in small spaces tends to lend oneself to a life that may be filled with the things that we simply just do not need.  Large spaces tend to allow this collection too, however in a small space, you really must keep it cleaned out in order to breathe.  So after the cleaning and the de-cluttering has taken place, take note of what it is you want to change.  Those with carpet running through there houses may consider a return to basics.  If the carpet is older, rip it out and stain the cement.

There are options for great rugs and throw carpets that will match your newly covered windows with the selections from Next Day Blinds. Re-arranging the furniture in a small space will also serve to free up the area, to give you a new feel of open space.  Gallons of paint, are not very costly and by adding a fresh coat or a new color, you will be amazed at the lift that will be created.  Start with one wall, and move to the next.  Sometimes, just a focus wall is all that is necessary to give a room a new feel.  During these times, there are still many things that one can do to give their living spaces the face lifts that are necessary and important to your own sense of well being and your joy to coming home each night.

Holiday Season is Great Time to Buy a Backyard Grill

Posted by Brody on December 7, 2009

One of the great aspects of this time of the year is all of the sales that are going on throughout the nation and in addition to that there are numerous specials that will extend well into the New Year. What this means to the wise consumer is not only that they can count on special prices for holiday gift giving, but they can also look for that special new appliance or household luxury item that will be on sale and may end up as a Christmas present for someone, but for the wise consumer it is just the time of year to be making these major household purchases.

One of the popular home improvement options that is becoming a strong priority across the nation is restructuring the backyard and creating more of a home entertainment environment. This is benefiting families in many different ways and one of the most obvious and important is that it is helping to build greater connections between family members and it creates better options for family home nights. In addition, it allows for greater social entertainments to occur at the home, such as a teenage party. And creating a beautiful backyard landscape with additional features such as an outdoor kitchen and dining area will add value to the property, which is extremely important in today’s market.

With all of these elements to consider, it is natural that this time of year is the perfect time to find bbq grills on sale. It is also a great time to make the purchase and increase the pleasure potential of your backyard and the value of your home. With all these reasons to support buying a new grill or complete outdoor kitchen there is really no reason to put it off or resist it. Buy a grill, enjoy your life and improve your home.

Tips for Cleaning Hot Tubs

Posted by Brody on November 20, 2009

So you have decided to add the joys of a hot tub to your life.  This is not only something that will provide entertainment, this is something that will improve your overall health, mentally and physically.  A warm soak just before bed will relax your body and the stresses of the day will just melt away.  Should you be a bit stiff and sore after a work-out, a long run, or a trek through the mountains on a bicycle, the hot tub will relieve that stiffness, and leave you ready to go about the rest of the day.  Through out history people have been enjoying the benefits of water baths.  The jets and the bubbles come near to a massage, and the peace and serenity will calm the mind.  Many people think that the upkeep of hottubs may be too much work.  But this just is not so.  A full sized pool?  A bit of work, but choosing to install a hot tub will not include hours of maintenance.

The hot tub should be drained about every 3 months, and cleaned thoroughly, but this involves just about the same amount of energy as cleaning the shower stall.  You should pay special attention to the jets, for if they are not kept clean they will not properly function.  All you need is a sponge and the cleaner that you use inside on your bathtub.  One easy way to make certain that your hot tub and the jets are clean, is the bleach treatment.  Set the water thermostat at least, one hundred forty degrees Fahrenheit.  Pour on cup of bleach into the tub, and just a tiny bit of dish soap.  Turn on the jets and let them run for about fifteen minutes.  When that time has passed, drain the hot tub.  In order to get rid of any soap, fill the tub again, run the jets again, and then drain the tub again.  Get into the empty hot tub and do any additional cleaning, then fill it back up.  This may seem like quite a process, but again you just need to do this four times a year.  Your tub will be clean and functioning properly for years to come.

There Has Been No Better Time to Buy a Hot Tub

Posted by Brody on November 3, 2009

Hot tubs are a great way to entertain friends and family and they are also a fabulous way for an individual or couple to enjoy their evening. There are many benefits to purchasing and installing a home hot tub and there are an ever-increasing selection of models to accommodate all interests and budgets. In addition to the personal pleasures and potential health benefits hot tubs offer, they can also increase the value of a home or property. With all of these benefits and rewards, anyone who is thinking of purchasing a hot tub as more reasons now than ever before to take the step and do it.

Choosehottubsdirect.com is an excellent resource for questions and product information as well as for actually making the purchase. In addition to the greater availability the accessories and additional features that are available today make having a home hot tub seem like an extra special luxury item, though they are actually more affordable than ever before.

One of the attractive aspects of purchasing a hot tub in today’s market is deciding on a particular backyard theme or design. This can be as simple or complex as a family or individual wishes to make it though it can be difficult to resist some of the options that are available. Some standard features that are popular and even common on some models include elaborate lighting designs and stereo systems. This forms the basic structure for many hot tub purchases and then other features are added from there. Safety steps leading up to the hot tub are a great option and can prevent slipping and accidents. They also make the tub more attractive from the outside and accessing it much easier. An umbrella cover over the tub is an excellent option for spas that are frequently used during the day. This is particularly satisfying for families that live in colder climates. However simple or extreme the consumer wishes to make their hot tub area and backyard, there is a tub and features for all buyers.

Jan and Brice had been wanting to install a hot tub in their backyard for almost six years. They had agreed on the exact model and additional features they wanted and had even contacted a few companies to discuss pricing. However, they had also talked about moving and finally decided they would like to move to a larger house with a bigger yard and would hold off on the purchase until they were settled in their new home.

Well, as with many of the other best-laid plans of Brice and Jan, this didn’t work out as smoothly or as quickly as they both would have liked. They housing market took a drastic turn almost immediately after they made their decision to sell and they were stuck in their home for three years before they thought they could put it on the market and get a fair price for it. When this finally happened they contacted their real estate professional and listed their house. They also began looking for their own dream home. It was another year and half before the entire transition was complete, but finally, there they were sitting on a rug in their new living room, there was no other furniture at that point so they had take out Chinese food on their new rug. They ate with chop sticks and toasted their future with rice wine while they made plans for what all they were going to do with the new house.

Shortly after moving in Brice was anxious to get to work on the backyard. He contacted choosehottubsdirect.com and discovered a whole new line of hot tub models and a greater number of optional features. Brice and Jan discussed the landscape plans for their new yard, which would definitely include a deck and a flower garden with lilac bushes and finally decided on the perfect hot tub for their interests. The purchase and installation of their new hot tub was the easiest part of designing their yard. The rest of their plans took three months to get finished. But at last, Brice and Jan had an incredible backyard for their

The History of Blinds

Posted by Brody on October 12, 2009

Blinds may seem like a relatively new invention, with companies such as Next Day Blinds offering a variety of horizontal and vertical blinds, shades and shutters from a variety of wood, metal, and vinyl materials. However, Next Day Blinds and other similar companies are only expanding on a very ancient practice

Blinds come from the concept of blinding someone from seeing into a room or a given area.  The ancient Egyptians were among the first to develop blinds both for privacy and temperature control. They gathered reeds from the Nile River, strung them together and hung them over the window.  To try and cool the room down, they would have servants poor water over them, cooling the air as it came through the window.  The Chinese practiced a similar method with bamboo.  In fact, bamboo blinds can still be seen throughout Asia today.  Desert dwellers had a slightly different approach to covering their windows.  They would take wet clothes and hang them over the windows.

Even some of our more modern designs have their roots in ancient history.  During the 16thVenetians discovered the concept of the blind in Persia and then sold them to France.  Though the styles have changed over the last several hundred years, the concept of the Venetian blind is still the same.  During the 1950’s Venetian blinds were made using metal slates and strips of fabric to move them up and down; however, the 1980’s saw them change to vinyl, which was much quieter and aesthetically pleasing.   century

Even though are desires are the same—privacy and comfort—the styles have certainly changed.  Today, blinds and window treatments can be purchased in just about any style, color and design you could want.  They not only provide for our basic needs but for our more frivolous desires as well.

Vitamin D: From the Sun

Posted by Brody on October 1, 2009

When one lives in the Southwest desert, one is concerned with effects of the sun, too much causes cancer.  At first sun screen was a good thing, then it became a bad thing. At first having a healthy, deep tan was a good thing, then it too became a bad thing.  It seems as with everything else, that which is taken or given in moderation, seem to be the best option.  Too much causes ill effects, just as too little does the same.  Now it has been noted, that sunshine will make you live a healthier and a longer life.

For many people, the benefits of sitting in a hot tub in the beautiful shine of the sun, such as those found at choosehottubsdirect.com, outweigh the risk of skin cancer.  Sun makes the human body produce vitamin D.  Vitamin D protects the body from a plethora of diseases, but the fear of one disease–skin cancer–creates fear and keeps people in the shade, in the dark so to speak.  The medical community states that, yes, the danger of skin cancer is real, but that the fear is depriving people from the benefits of just simply sitting in the sun for a bit.

A study carried out in Oslo, by Johan Moan of the Institute for Cancer Research, led to the conclusion that just a modest amount of exposure to the sun light, provides the body with the ability to produce a substantial amount of Vitamin D.  In fact, this production of the vitamin actually aids the body in fighting many other forms of cancer.  As well as diabetes, rickets, and osteoporosis, as calcium and Vitamin D work together, they need each other to allow the body’s absorption of both.

Peoples’ body’s in sunny climates, such as Phoenix, AZ produce over three times the amount of Vitamin D as those who live in the United Kingdom.  Vitamin D helps the immune system of the body function at a higher level.  And will in fact benefit those suffering from other forms of cancer and disease.  So go to the hot tub, toss away the sun screen and find health from the sun.  It’s fun, it’s relaxing, and it’s worth it.

Two person hot tub or larger?

Posted by Brody on September 28, 2009

My wife and I have been discussing getting a hot tub. Actually we have decided to get one and we know where it will go. Space is not an issue because we have a huge back yard, there is plenty of room. I am pushing for a two person hot tubs and she wants us to get one that is much larger. I would like to go with a smaller tub for several reasons I tell her. The smaller tub would be quicker to empty, clean and refill, easier maintenance. A smaller tub would not take as long to heat up when refilled. The water usage would be less and really the main reason is I do not want to be soaking in out hot tub with her family.

I mean really, what kind of a relaxing experience would it be to be soaking in the hot tub with your wife and her mother. And believe me if the tub is big enough in any way shape of form my mother in law will be right over here joining us. Now it is not like I don’t like her, is is a fine mother in law, but even from a mother in laws perspective, she must be able to see the unpalatable a son in law would have for soaking in the same hot tub with her and his wife. Well I am not sure my mother in law will get it and the only way I see us enjoying the hot tub in peace and private by ourselves is to limit the size of the tub thus giving her no choice but not to come over and soak with us. So I guess I will stick to my guns on the smaller hot tub and hopefully my wife will come around to my point of view.

Face Foreclosure Directly

Posted by Brody on August 26, 2009

All across the United States, homeowners are dealing with the stress of impending foreclosures.  Brooklyn,  New York residents are feeling the pinch, just as are the residents in Pasadena, California.  It is something that weighs on so many minds, the minds of hard working American people.  Sometimes, when something is difficult to deal with or to think about, people will tend to ‘stick their heads in the sand’ and just hope that the problem will go away.

This is not the best strategy for anything, much less the possibility of loosing one’s house, their home.  The best way to attend to it, is to attend to it.  When notices are received in the mail, and when that is combined with the knowledge that one is behind on their mortgage payment, some people will tend to ignore the mail, ignore the phone.  Contact the lender, be upfront and pro-active.  Ignoring the problem does not mean it will go away, and to be honest, one really isn’t ignoring it.  It will remain on one’s mind.

So it is best just to open the mail, best to just pick up the phone and dial and deal with the issue directly.  As soon as one realizes that a payment on the mortgage just can not be met, call the lender.  Lenders are not the bad guys.  They do not want their clients to loose their homes.  Often times they do have programs that will ease stress, and still allow one to keep their home.  They have a variety of options that are intended to keep one in their house, not take it away.

Each U.S. state has different laws and regulations, it is always good to know your rights, to be up on the laws of your state, and to read and re-read the loan documents, so that you know exactly what your options are, what they would be.  If one is not aware of the laws in one’s home state, simply contact the State Government Housing Office.  They will have answers to the questions one may have regarding the laws of the state on mortgages and foreclosure.  These are trying times for many American citizens, but it isn’t the end of the world.  There are options and there are people that are there to help.

Home revamping

Posted by Brody on August 19, 2009

Home renovation is one of those things. You can either go big, ripping out entire bathrooms and knocking down walls. Or go small with just a few fresh coats of paint and some new area rugs. The thing is that you have to decide what is within your budget and what will make you happy. Going over budget certainly will not make you happy at all.

The first thing you should consider is if you are willing to do any of the work yourself. Doing the project DIY can save you tons of money in the long run.  If you are thinking about doing any demolition this is a place where you can easily save some cash by doing it yourself. And how fun would it be to take out your frustrations with the world on those walls you just hate. You can do this is a kitchen or bathroom remodel job. Just make sure that you don’t wreck anything too important to the project. Like, say pipes. Yeah, that would be bad.

If you are thinking about just going small in your home renovation you should just do some minor upgrades.  Consider changing flooring, new carpets can always freshen up a living area, or a fresh coat of paint can do wonders for a space. New blinds is also a great way to update a space. New window treatments can really change the entire attitude of a room and give it a unique look that can be achieved without spending a fortune. Next Day Blinds is a great company to work with if you are considering new window treatments.

Next Day Blinds offers a website with thousands of choices that you can either order direct of go check out the styles in one of their many showrooms.

Home renovation and customer service

Posted by Brody on August 12, 2009

When it comes time to renovate your home there are a lot of things you need to take into consideration. And it has to do with more than just your color palette. You need to decide if you are going to do the work yourself or if you are going to hire someone to do it for you. Finding a reputable company is key in making your process a seamless and hassle free one. You want to find someone or a company that prides itself on customer service and is willing to fix mistakes that could potentially be made. The first thing you should do is do a little bit of online research.

For example, just because Next Day Blinds suggestions shows up in a search engine does not mean that the company is not good at what they do.  It’s a good thing to note and understand the internet is a vacuum for information and there is no one that is policing it. So anyone can write anything good or bad about a company. If someone writes Next Day Blinds reviews in a search engine, even if they are few and far between it can be misleading.

The internet is a tricky thing that is why you have to be careful with the information that you find, especially when it comes to companies. Business, any business is a dog eat dog world! Back to our example. Next Day Blinds is an Angie’s List winner but even if you are great at what you do a company can be hurt by misleading internet searches like Next Day Blinds reviews.

So the moral of the story is to just be aware and do lots of research before choosing anyone to come in and help you out with your dream home renovations.

The art of grilling

Posted by Brody on July 31, 2009

Grilling is one of the most American things that happen during the months from May to September. As soon as the summer hits people are out on their built in gas grills ready to make the most of their summer time cookouts. Grilling has become a hobby for people. Instead of just simply cooking over coals now, you can find people outside on their bbq islands and some even have completely huge outside kitchens, with everything from outdoor burners to sinks!

Grilling however has simple roots. It is only recently that it has become an entire industry about making things bigger and better. Grilling started as just cooking food over and open flame. Probably dating back to the time of cavemen and making the most out of a little new invention called fire. It then became something different when Weber came out with their unique dome grill design. The designer of the grill based it off the design of buoys and that was what the company originally manufactured.

Now, the company still makes the grill based off the same design. That is the original charcoal grill. And now there is debate over which is the better way to cook meet, over a coal grill or a gas or electric grill. It really depends on how you want the meat or vegetables you are grilling to taste. People who like grilling over charcoal like the way the charcoal makes what they are grilling taste smoky. The smoky flavor is what they think means the meet tastes grilled. People who choose gas grills do so because it tends to be more convenient and less labor intensive than the traditional charcoal grill.

There are about as many ways to grill and types of grills out there as there is meat to grill. It’s really just a matter of personal preference and what fits in your lifestyle. You need to decide how much room you have before you pick a type of grill to buy as well.

Use the internet to comparison shop

Posted by Brody on July 29, 2009

If you are shopping for anything from a pair of Manolo Blahnik heels to a new LCD television you should use the internet as your first line of shopping research. No matter what type of item you are shopping for, you should first do a little research on price difference on the internet.

The internet has revolutionized not only the way that people communicate with each other, but also how they research anything from a term paper to where to get the best price on a new lawn mower. The internet is especially helpful if you are shopping for items that will cost quite a bit of money all at once, big ticket items.

Another place that you should consider before purchasing a brand new item that is quite expensive it to check craigslist. Lots of people end up selling their treadmills or furniture or other things that they don’t need and you can pick up some top equipment at a fraction of the cost.

A great tool that you can use on the internet is a website called Pricegrabber. All you do is simply type in the item that you are looking for and then instantly the site compares prices from many different retailers to find you the best deal. This site is great for electronics and other smaller goods, but also great for most any kind of item.

The internet is the best place to start researching something. The more you know about what you want to buy, the better prepared you will be when you go out and start shopping for it. For example, if you are looking for a big ticket item like a hot tub, you may find a great price on choosehottubsdirect.com but still want to see it in person. Well, go see the tub in person at another retailer and then come back and buy it off the website. Just make sure you find the site reputable and know the return policy.

Outdoor Entertaining and Outdoor Cinema

Posted by Brody on June 26, 2009

You will love your new grill island and already have a thousand ideas for the splendid times that are ahead of you.  It already adds another room (at least) to your beautiful home, and it’s perfectly natural (and even recommended!) to show it off to your friends.  What’s the point of having something to share if you don’t share it?  These are built for fun.

Everyone loves to eat, and everyone loves movies.  The two seem to go hand-in-hand, and people do these all year round.  In the summer though, when the grilling season starts to hit its zenith in the popular imagination, everything outdoors suddenly starts to take off.  The childhood memories spark the imagination of adults, and kids start to run on their own jet fuel. The smell of cut grass, when mixed with the smell of grills starting up, means that the season is really here.  Long lazy days that end with a lovely meal cooked in your own outdoor cooking is about as good as it gets.  But to push it one more level higher, it might be worth considering adding some outdoor cinema to the experience.

There are multiple options to consider here, and all of them are guaranteed to make you popular in the neighborhood.  Some of our grill islands have built-in television to keep the cook happy.  Gather your friends around and watch your favorite shows.  For large-screen televisions, when the whether gets wet, there are many types of year-round weather television enclosures .  There are also possibilities for adding different kinds of outdoor lighting, and of course, options for stylish sound design.  Adding a screen with a projection system, of course, takes it to a whole new level, and with your grill making the neighborhood hungry, there’s no limit to the fun.  Outdoor cinema has fantastic possibilities, and even dreaming about your perfect combinations of menus and Summer film selections is time well spent, with succulent rewards.

Gardening in the city of New York

Posted by Brody on May 19, 2009

The smell of fresh flowers to the wonderful aromas of produce is the reason for creating a small square footage of farm land, okay a garden, either on the roof tops or the space in between the buildings. Having never taken care of rooftop gardens before, I was surprised by the way it differs from the old fashion traditional garden. The major difference being the sun and the wind. Resulting in growing conditions that tend toward the extreme. Like after a good rain, it takes no time for the soil beds to dry out. Hence the use of a tremendous amount of mulch. Creating worries about the weight one places on any rooftop.

Although the planting on rooftops isn’t new, it certainly has turned into a city wide industry.  Some New York rooftops are able to hold the weight of 18 inches of topsoil and large quantities of produce can be grown to accommodate the busy Five Star restaurants and New York Hotel Suites  are beginning to create their own rooftop gardens. Providing the Chef the fresh exotic produce and herbs many of their best recipes and dishes require. Even the rooftops of the high rises are making the local farmers markets burst at the seems with all the fresh produce such as hot and green peppers, cucumbers, sweet potato, Heirloom tomatoes, green onions, carrots and well the list can go on forever. There is research going on to develop lightweight rooftop greenhouses and hydroponic techniques . Leading to the growth in rooftops crops and a wider range of produce.

There is a real and perceived lack of what is an essential component of healthy living. A missed connection with nature and the use of outdoor space. The concept of a ‘green’ roof is akin to the popularity of the rooftop garden. The new trend to now build green is now entering into the architecture of the roof. Greenroofs are the result of the underlying roof build-up system, providing continuous, uninterrupted layering of protective materials and excellent drainage. So, as more and more awareness of living green, eating healthy and global warming is becoming the norm, it is easy to see why there are more companies cropping up to manufacture products to make it easier for dense city dwellers to become an urban farmer and a gardener.

Windows in the Washington D.C. area

Posted by Alice on October 31, 2008

Visiting the nation’s capital is an invigorating trip into the past of our country. Georgetown is home to the beautiful Tudor Place. Inside awaits an amazing display of historical home decor. The most breathtaking effect in the home is the way light from the windows elegantly glows into every room. It’s enough to inspire anyone to redecorate their own living space. The local window experts at Next Day Blinds had an in-store display that showed how it is fairly easy it would be to achieve the same effect at home. The roller shades had a very calming effect on the room, and some of the designs had an antique look to them.

It’s always eye-opening going into their showroom. Somehow there is always something new that I didn’t notice before. Apparently, Next Day Blinds is fairly well-known for their advertisements in the local area. When talking to a local resident about their products and services, she instantly recalled the Milkman television commercial. It was good to hear that their reputation for high-quality products and providing good service was just as well known.

Next Day Blinds Through Every Step

Posted by Brody on July 28, 2008

Choosing the right window blinds for you house can seem very trying at times. But getting the right blinds is easy when you go with Next Day Blinds. They have every possible type of blinds available. And they will even go to your home for an in-home consultation.

Next Day Blinds helped me to pick out the blinds I needed and stay within my budget. Their products are reasonably priced and the quality is outstanding. I would recommend Next Day Blinds to anyone.

I was worried that I would not be able to choose the best kinds but with their help, I found the perfect blinds for my decor. I got honeycomb blinds for my bedroom, plantation shutters for my kitchen nook, bamboo window blinds for my living room and wood blinds for my kitchen. It’s amazing how much of a difference new blinds can make.

Next Day Blinds was there every step of the way. And they are even replacing their car fleet with hybrids through the attrition process. That means a lot to me because I am very concerned with the environment. I know that they will do the best job possible for me because they even care about the environment.

In the recent past, most people thought that in order to update the look of their homes, they had to almost re-model and spend a large sum of money. But updating the look of your home doesn’t have to cost a fortune. In fact, with just a few easy changes, you will see your home in an entirely new light. By following these simple steps, you can update the look of any room with a limited budget.

Step 1: Choose your color palette and decide on the color you want your walls to be. Be sure to choose a palette that will go with your sofa. You will keep the larger, more expensive pieces of furniture the same because changing these will cost a considerable amount of money. Decide on colors that you like and that match the larger pieces of furniture that you have.

Step 2: Pick out new rugs for the room. Be sure that you get a rug pad as this will keep the area rug in place and will prevent slips. The rug you decide you decide on should also match your color scheme. The wonderful thing about rugs is that they come in all styles, colors and some ever have patterns. Based on your preference choose one that will go with your sofa. If shag rugs will look best, choose the appropriate size and color.

Step 3: Replace your end tables and coffee tables. If the ones you currently have are expensive and you do not want to replace them, skip this step. If you cannot afford new ones but would like a new look for the ones you have, consider re-staining or painting them. A distressed white look can dramatically change the appearance of the tables and the look of your room.

By following these three steps, changing the appearance of any room is simple and inexpensive. If you are changing a bedroom, insert bedding for sofa and you will find that it is simple to change the look of that room also.
