In Singapore, there is an enormous array of attractions and distractions to entertain every member of the family. From people watching to sight-seeing to tours, there are many fantastic ways to get to know the place. Even a cursory glance will reveal a bustling metropolis, where the locals are extremely hip on the latest trends, and there is an artistic sensibility running through everything. The visual arts are extremely important here, and Singapore has seen a boom in the past few decades. Singapore has a culture that supports excellence in artistic innovation, and some of the most interesting artists today come from here. Lynn Lu is an excellent example.
Born in 1974, she has a BFA from Carnegie Mellon in Pittsburgh, an MFA from the San Fransisco Art Institute, and is currently working on her doctoral thesis from the University of Newcastle in Australia. Her work is based in performance and installation, and her projects are extremely thought-provoking, and visually quite stunning. There is a sense of melancholy about her work, mixed with equal doses of humor and despair. There are also sharp cultural critiques at work here, and the sharpness of thought requires viewing the work first-hand. She has shown work at the Future of Imagination international performance art event, among many other venues all around the world.

If you like the musical form of movies, you most definitely like Bollywood films. It’s really rare that a Bollywood film is made without at least a song and a dance number. Even Mumbai Hotels offer an all ‘Bollywood’ channel. At the movie theatres Indian audiences want and expect to have full value for their money, which means they want more songs and more dances, a fantastic love story mixed with laughs and thrills. This extravaganza can take three hours to watch, so an intermission is necessary. This particular type of Bollywood film is called masala, named after the spice mixture. So, like masala, these films are a mixture of many, many things.
Melodramatic plots tend to employ a more formulaic mix of ingredients. The star-crossed lovers of rival families dealing with corrupt politicians who are kidnapped by conniving villains. Street hookers with a heart of gold meeting there long-lost siblings or parent, seperated by a tragedy, but had a reversal of fortune and can redeem the fallen fem-fatal.
The more ‘artistic’ film have a flare of sophistication. The story written by, for example, Guru Dutt or Shyam Benegal lose out on being box office hits, not appealing to the mass. But, Bollywood is changing to keep up with the ever rising income of the lower class. Bollywood films increasingly are experimenting with new genre’s, breaking the ‘masala’ mold or even subvert it. A younger, educated audience is significantly aiding in this change. Due to access to the Internet and the vast availability of Internet international films, Bollywood is actually forced to write a new way to look at life in India, something more realistic and deals with current issues. It should also be said that a goodly number of the mass-appeal films which are either simply crafted for amusements are being recognized as an artistic achievement in there own way. So, any true fan of Bollywood films will be moved not from loving the ‘masala’ type film, but adding to their love with the new an exciting well-crafted films being made for the younger generation.

For luxury hotels, Bangalore is uniquely situated as a world-class district, offering sumptuous delights for world travelers, business travel, and anything in between. The third largest city in India, Bangalore has been growing by leaps and bounds in terms of technology, business, and economic development. It is also home to Bangalore University, whose main campus and subsidiary universities have some 300,000 students, making it one of the largest in the world. Bangalore has been regarded for a number of years as India’s largest center for technology, but recently it has begun to make large strides in the world marketplace.
One result of this phenomenon is a syndrome called R-2-I, or Return-to-India. For the first time in recent years, there is an increase in young people moving from the United States to Bangalore. Some of these are first generation U.S. residents, while others have pursued university educations in the U.S., and worked there because of the earning power in that country. The intention was always to move back to Bangalore one day, as is the case for so many immigrants, but this wish is becoming something that a generation of Indians and Indian-Americans are bringing into light.
The reasons for this are complicated, but the main reason is because of the same force that drove them out: economics. A new generation is starting to realize that there are suddenly more opportunities for talent and education in Bangalore. Industry is booming, and opportunities are, in fact, better. There are also some other very important factors in this trend. One is simply based on the emotional attachment to a motherland, which would include being close to the parents again, and the extended family, and meeting up with old friends. As more young people are returning, the previous generation remembers the brain drain on India, when so many left for the opportunities promised in the U.S. But now this is shifting, and some are calling it a “brain drain in reverse”. There are some very interesting incidents of reverse culture shock. The returning Bangaloreans are coming home with the expectations of seeing the India of their childhoods, only to find that technological advancement and the effects of globalization are markedly present here. Old world customs still win out over new world trends, but it’s a shifting ground that is culturally fascinating for insiders and world travelers, making for a vibrant backdrop for change in a vibrant city.

I recently purchased a new desktop computer for my home office and I realized that it was going to take me hours and hours to export aol address book to oe. The whole point of getting a new computer was so I could be more efficient with my work and utilize my time better.
I also needed to export address book from blackberry. I finally decided to see what options were available and I looked into the history of address book export. I wish that I would have known about some of the software programs before. Not only would I have saved a lot of time, I could have had my employees save time.
The time we spent on manually copying and pasting addresses was money lost. With the available applications I was able to convert outlook and start getting my work done. In the future my employees will not be able to waste more than a day like I did.
